Margate Evenings

I love the quality of light in Margate - especially the spectacular sunsets. I started painting the dramatic sky-scapes using watercolour on paper. Looking through the window, I painted quickly to capture the colours as they changed moment by moment.  This series of prints is from the original watercolour series.

I noticed the wind-turbines on the horizon, but didn't include these in my paintings. Afterwards I thought about the elegant turbines, providing hope for the future. JMW Turner looked out at the same scene in Margate - but he didn’t see the wind-turbines, or the Climate disaster in its making.
