Collection: Iona Watercolours

This series of prints are from watercolour paintings created on the Isle of Iona over several years. This Scottish Island, in the Hebrides is a place of incandescent blue sea and white sands. The quality of light and ancient history of peace, draw me back each year. There are bright sunny days in May and June, when I sit on the beach to paint, finding shelter beside a cliff or rock out of the wind.  Every day the cloudscape changes, I love it when a storm is brewing over the sea - I have to paint quickly before the rain starts, then run for shelter.  Iona also has a deep spirituality,  St Columba first landed there from Ireland in 563AD. He founded the Iona Abbey and this was rebuilt in the 1938 by the Iona Community who still use it today.
